About

Patrick Balthrop / High Fruit

Interactive Sound + Fury is the studio of Patrick Balthrop, known by his stage name High Fruit, an American electronic musician and designer. The studio operates out of two distinctive locations: one in Seattle’s Capitol Hill, at the heart of the city’s vibrant queer community, and another on 9 acres of lush rainforest along Washington’s rugged coastline, where the Pacific Ocean meets the wilderness.

Patrick first gained recognition as a sound designer and engineer in the video game industry, contributing to multiple Game of the Year titles as a sound designer and audio director. He has sat in on mixing sessions at Abbey Road Studios, including work with The Beatles, and has received accolades from the BAFTAs, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, and the Game Audio Network Guild.

As High Fruit, Patrick released his debut EP, Kumar, which garnered over 500,000 streams within four months and was named a top 10 release of 2024 by KEXP DJ Abbie Gobeli. His sophomore EP, Sunshine Superqueen, expanded his exploration of vocal morphing and fused melodic techno, deep house, and dance-pop structures. It peaked at #30 on the Beatport Melodic House and Techno Release charts. High Fruit’s dynamic live performances feature him playing synthesizers, drum machines, and live vocal morphing, creating complex polymetric and polyrhythmic grooves without relying on DJ equipment.

Patrick’s sound design has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum and featured in over 70 million copies of video games published by industry leaders like Take-Two Interactive, Annapurna Interactive, and MTV Games. His live audiovisual shows and dancefloor installations have supported renowned acts such as Tama Sumo, Lakuti, Phase Fatale, Jubilee, Lauren Flax, Rrao, Regis, Sharlese, Jake Muir, and Nark.

He owns and operates his studio, Interactive Sound + Fury, and is a member of the underground dance music collective, Lotion Collective, which curates cutting-edge electronic music events.
